Happy Easter

What a special weekend Easter is. Not because of the candy, eggs, gifts or flowers. It's certainly not because of some bunny. Yes, those are all fun, good things, but it's a special weekend because He died on the cross for us. And then rose from the grave. We are so blessed to know and be loved by Him. That's reason to celebrate!

We traveled to Tacoma for Easter, like we do every year, to be with family and celebrate Jesus' resurrection. We had a blast with Abby's family Saturday morning and my family Saturday afternoon. (Can you believe the weather on Saturday? It was what, 65 degrees? On Easter weekend no less. Amazing. That never happens.)

The tulip fields in all their glory

The Skagit Valley tulip fields are finally in full bloom! And just like every other year, we couldn't pass up an opportunity to go see the fields in all their brilliant colors. They truly are a sight to behold. This year was extra special because it was Kyah's first visit.

Welcome to the family

Meet our new niece and Kyah's cousin - Isabella Marie Curtis.


It was one surprise after another this morning. I got a text from my mom at 7 a.m. that my sister was in the hospital and pushing. Then an hour later I got another text that it was a girl.



We decided to skip church and head to the hospital. Two hours later we were in Kent and holding this little sweetie. She's happy and healthy, and weighed in at 7lbs 7oz. Oh, and she has a full head of hair. : )



Welcome to the family, Isabella! And congratulations to the proud momma and poppa! We can't wait to hold her again.

Just had to quickly share this photo that my Dad took last weekend. She's a smiler, that's for sure.

Peek-a-boo

I vividly remember the first time we played peek-a-boo with Kyah. It wasn't all that long ago, actually. She was on our bed and Abby would pop up from the side and exclaim peek-a-boo. Kyah thought that was the funniest thing ever. When she laughed, we laughed. It was a great time.

Recently, Kyah started playing the game with us. It's super cute and funny. We'll prop a pillow up in front of her and she'll bury her face it, and then she'll pop up and we'll say peek-a-boo. She most always gets a huge smile on her face and repeats the same thing over and over and over. It's quite fun.

Loves me some food

Okay, maybe she didn't love it the first time or the second, third or fourth times. She even gagged A LOT at the beginning. But now that we're three weeks into it, she's starting to eat like a champ.

Getaway to the Bahamas

Well, we did it. We successfully flew across country to Florida, caught a cruise ship to the Bahamas and then returned, all with a six-month old in tow. Kyah was quite the trooper, too, I might add.

The whole trip was to celebrate Abby's older sister's wedding. Her sister, Jenn, got married on a beach in Nassau. It was quite spectacular, and a great excuse for a vacation.

We flew into Orlando and stayed a couple days at a hotel. We just relaxed by the pool and soaked up the sunshine while the rest of the wedding party gathered.














Kyah learned to roll over while we were in our hotel room - just one of the many exciting things that happened while on vacation.






We then caught a three-day cruise ship down to the Bahamas for the wedding.






Unfortunately, I didn't get a photo of the cute couple getting married on the beach. Abby and I were in the wedding party, plus we had a 6-month old to care for, and we were on a time crunch to get back to the cruise ship. There were plenty of other photographers there snapping our pictures, I just haven't got a photo from them yet. This one will have to do, for now.




Jenn and Dave could not have planned their wedding for a better week. It snowed two feet While we were gone. Check this picture out! It's outside one of our D-O-T offices in Burlington. Crazy!
