Man weekend 2009

This last weekend was our annual retreat to a cabin in Quilcene (on Hood Canal) for "Man Weekend." We get together every year (without the women) to make and break stuff, bbq and eat meat, live off the bounty of the ocean, and relax and have fun.

Every year we have a "project." This year's project was a spud gun. Corey, who is an engineer, researched and built a potatoe launcher. We had our doubts about whether it would work or not, but after one shot we were hooked. That sucker launched potatoes like two football fields away. INCREDIBLE!




When we're not working on or enjoying our project, we're usually relaxing and eating food. This year, we encouraged our ladies to bake goodies for us, to make sure we were well fed while away. Just look at all those bags of cookies, bars and bread. We were living high on the hog.


This is called living off the bounty of the ocean: clams, crabs and oysters.



You can usually find us relaxing by the fire on the cabin deck and by the fire on the beach.



We also attempted to cook a roast in a dutch oven under a fire pit on the beach. Unfortunately, we failed miserably at it. Burnt so badly nothing was left. Sad.
